Liverpool won 0-2 at Ipswich Town thanks to two goals from Alexander Isak in the opening six minutes. Cody Gakpo was decisive on both occasions: he assisted the first goal after a strong individual action and sent Isak through with a brilliant outside-of-the-foot pass for the second. Ipswich goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen had no answer to either powerful finish.

Gakpo, Isak and Virgil van Dijk started for Liverpool, while Jeremie Frimpong, Ryan Gravenberch and Zian Flemming remained on the bench. Azor Matusiwa missed the match through injury. After the turbulent opening, Liverpool controlled the game, although Ipswich created occasional danger. In the second half, top signing Bradley Barcola made his Liverpool debut, while Gravenberch and Flemming also came on. The result was already decided by the early goals.

Liverpool faces Atlético Madrid at Anfield in the Champions League on Wednesday and hosts Fulham three days later. Ipswich visits Crystal Palace next Saturday.
